Rustlers Bow Out of Region 9 Women's Basketball Tournament in Quarterfinal Match
ROCK SPRINGS, WY – The Central Wyoming College women's basketball team faced off against Lamar Community College on March 12, in a Region 9 quarterfinal matchup at Western Wyoming Community College.
Despite a spirited second-half comeback and several dominant individual performances, the Rustlers ultimately fell to the South #1 seed Lamar in a 65-56 contest.
Rustler Performance Highlights:

Aliyah Newton powered the CWC offense, leading the team with 9 assists and chipping in 8 points.

Laura Ring was a force in the paint, recording a massive double-double with 14 rebounds and 13 points while playing a team-high 40 minutes.

Lucy Howard provided critical support on the offensive end, finishing the game with 14 points.

Izabelle Moyes and Lexie Kesler rounded out the scoring efforts with 9 and 8 points, respectively.
Opponent Recap: Lamar Community College was led by Amaya Williams, who had a game-high 18 points. The visitors also saw strong contributions from Shay Oyewole (13 points) and Alexis Halley (10 points) to help edge out the Rustlers.
Looking Ahead: This loss marked the end of the 2025/26 season for the Central Wyoming women's basketball team. The Rustlers finished with a conference record of 7-5 and overall record of 15-15.
