Rustlers Fall in Hard-Fought Battle Against Region IX Powerhouse Northwest College
RIVERTON, WY – The Central Wyoming College Rustlers women's basketball team faced a tough challenge at home this past Saturday, January 31, falling 73-60 to the Northwest College Trappers in a physical Region IX North clash. Despite a spirited second-quarter comeback and strong individual double-doubles, the Rustlers (10-11, 3-2) were unable to overcome an early deficit at Rustler Gym.
Trappers Start Hot, Rustlers Battle Back
Northwest College, entering the game with a formidable 16-7 record, set a blistering pace in the first quarter, outscoring CWC 25-10. However, the Rustlers showed significant resilience in the second frame, mounting a 22-12 run to pull within five points at halftime.
CWC's defense intensified in the second quarter, but the Trappers' depth and efficiency proved difficult to contain for the full 40 minutes. Northwest regained control in the second half, utilizing a 34-20 advantage in points in the paint to seal the road victory.
