CWC Women's Basketball Wraps Up Challenging Weekend in Cheyenne

The Central Wyoming College Rustlers women's basketball team faced two tough opponents in Cheyenne, WY, over the weekend, playing Western Nebraska Community College on November 28, and New Mexico Junior College on November 29. Despite valiant efforts and strong individual performances, the Rustlers fell just short of victory in both contests.

November 28: Close Battle Against Western Nebraska

The Rustlers' first match against Western Nebraska Community College on November 28 was a nail-biting affair. The first half featured several lead changes, with the Rustlers trailing by just one point at halftime, 36-37.

  • Lexie Kesler was the standout player of the night, leading the team with 22 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals.

  • Laura Ring contributed significantly with 17 points. 

  • Lucy Howard led the rebounding efforts with 8 rebounds. 

  • Bella Sika added 4 assists.

Ultimately, the Rustlers could not maintain their momentum in the second half, with Western Nebraska securing a 70-66 victory.

November 29: Tough Matchup with New Mexico Junior College

On November 29, the Rustlers, led by strong showings from Laura Ring and Lexie Kesler, challenged New Mexico Junior College. The Rustlers showcased their talent, but NMJC took a 45-31 lead into halftime. The Rustlers were unable to overcome the lead, resulting in a final score of 82-69 in favor of New Mexico Junior College.

  • Laura Ring dominated the boards and scoring, tallying 19 points and 8 rebounds.

  • Lexie Kesler contributed 17 points, including 5 three-pointers.

  • Bella Sika led the assists with 4 and scored 9 points

  • Izabelle Moyes and Sophie Wilkinson also contributed, adding 6 and 5 points, respectively. Wilkinson also pulled down 4 rebounds.

  • Aliyah Newton bolstered the defense with 2 steals 

With their current season record standing at 4-6, the Central Wyoming College Rustlers will look to bounce back. Their next game is scheduled for December 5, 2025, against Salt Lake Community College in Salt Lake City
