Rustler Rodeo Team Competes at Pat Hamilton Memorial Rodeo; Athletes Shine in Barebacks and Team Roping

The Central Wyoming College Rustler Rodeo team recently traveled to Sheridan, Wyoming, to compete in the Pat Hamilton Memorial Rodeo, an event hosted by the Generals Rodeo Team.

While the team faced challenges, several Rustler athletes delivered standout performances. Eian Smith secured a 3rd place finish in Barebacks, with Chaz Dewey close behind in 5th place in the same event. Cael Espenschied earned a respectable 7th place in Team Roping.

Coach Schrock commented on the team's performance, stating, "I feel like we missed some opportunities, especially because of the setup and type of cattle. The roping boxes are long and the cattle started and ran hard. We have some kids that have really good long-range runs, and I felt like we should have been able to capitalize on the setup more than we did."

Despite the challenging conditions, Coach Schrock extended congratulations to the successful athletes. "Congratulations to Eian, Chaz, and Cael," he added. "They keep finding themselves in the winners circle."

Looking ahead, the Rustlers will have a short week of practice before heading to Lamar, Colorado, on Thursday, October 2 for their next competition.
