CWC Men's Basketball Win OT Thriller on Sophomore Night

RIVERTON, WY – The Central Wyoming College Rustlers men's basketball team wrapped up their regular-season schedule this past week, facing off against Western Wyoming and Laramie County Community College in a pair of hard-fought Region 9 matchups.

Rustlers Survive in Overtime Against Western Wyoming  

On February 28, the Rustlers hosted Western Wyoming Community College at Rustler Gym in a contest that needed an extra period to decide a winner. In a display of resilient effort, CWC edged out their opponent in overtime, with the final score ending 62-62 at the end of regulation. Sophomore Jordan Peel hit a go-ahead running floater in the key with three seconds remaining in overtime to s the Rustlers ahead, and secure them a 72-70 win. 

Peel led the Rustlers with a team-high 25 points, adding 6 assists and 6 rebounds in 45 minutes of action. He was supported by Isaac Patik, who contributed 13 points and 4 rebounds, and Daniel Smith, who nearly notched a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds.

Key Performers:

CWC showed strength in the first half, leading 31-28 at the break, and finished the game shooting 38.2% from the floor.

LCCC Pulls Away in Regular Season Finale

The Rustlers traveled to Cheyenne on March 2 to take on Laramie County Community College at the RAC. In a high-tempo game, the Golden Eagles used a strong first half to set the pace, eventually handing CWC an 87-63 loss.

Christian Kranz provided a major spark for the Rustlers, leading the scoring with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Tyler Jette added 12 points, and Jordan Peel reached double figures again with 10 points. Daniel Smith anchored the rebounding effort once more, securing 8 boards to go along with his 8 points.

Notable Stats:

The Rustlers were efficient from the free-throw line, connecting on 81.3% of their attempts as a team.

With the commencement of the 2025/26 regular season, the Rustlers move on to the Region 9 playoffs, where they're set to hit the road against North Platte Community College on Saturday, March 7th at 1 PM MST.
