Men's Basketball Falls Short in First Regular Season Games of the Season

The Central Wyoming College Rustlers competed in a non-conference regular season basketball event in Rock Springs, WY, on October 31 and November 1, facing tough challenges against Utah State Eastern and Lamar Community College.

The first game began with Utah State Eastern taking an early lead. Despite efforts from the Rustlers, including a three-pointer by Jordan Peel, Utah State Eastern maintained control, finishing the first period ahead at 25-21. By halftime, the score was 43-37 in favor of Utah State Eastern. The third period saw Utah State Eastern extending their lead by as much as 13 points, concluding the period at 57-48. Ultimately, Utah State Eastern secured a 68-58 victory over the Rustlers. Key performers for Central Wyoming in this game were Isaac Patik, who scored 13 points, and Daniel Smith, who both scored 12 points and led with 6 rebounds.

The subsequent game against Lamar Community College also presented hurdles for the Rustlers. Lamar started strong and led 35-33 by the end of the first period. The gap widened significantly by halftime, with Lamar leading 63-40. This trend continued through the third period, with Lamar at 96-63. Lamar clinched the game with a final score of 96-75. Notable performances included Luke Danielson with 19 points and Jordan Peel, contributing significantly with three-point shots and leading assists.

Overall, these games highlighted the resilience of the Rustlers despite the tough competition. CWC start their season 0-2, and will host Rocky Mountain College on Friday, November 7 in Riverton, WY at 6 PM for their first home game of the 2025-26 regular season.
