Rustler Volleyball Finds Success on the Court in Chadron

The Central Wyoming College volleyball team traveled to Chadron, Nebraska, on April 11, 2026, delivering a strong performance that highlighted the program's steady progress this spring. Competing against a tough slate of regional opponents, the Rustlers secured two key victories, demonstrating both individual improvement and cohesive team chemistry.

Match Results

The Rustlers faced a trio of challenging programs, finishing the day with a 2-1 record:

  • Western Nebraska Community College: CWC opened with a resilient performance, rebounding from a narrow first-set loss to win 24-26, 25-12, 15-9.

  • South Dakota School of Mines: In a hard-fought battle that went the distance, the Rustlers narrowly fell in three sets: 19-25, 25-23, 9-15. 

  • Black Hills State University: The team closed the day on a high note, securing another three-set victory with scores of 19-25, 25-21, 15-6.

Building Momentum From the opening serve, Central Wyoming played with high energy and purpose. The team's success was rooted in effective play execution and consistent communication, allowing them to remain competitive and in control even when faced with unique challenges in each matchup.

The tournament served as a clear indicator that the team's rigorous spring training sessions are translating into on-court success. Sophomore Laina Whitney expressed the team's excitement about returning to indoor play.

"It was so good to get back on the court and play some good teams!" said Whitney. "It's been fun playing beach (volleyball), but it was fun to get back inside and play as a whole team!".

Looking Ahead

The successful outing in Chadron not only highlighted the team's current abilities but also underscored their exciting potential for the future. As the spring season continues, the Rustlers remain focused on building upon this solid foundation.
