Rustler Women's Soccer Clinches Home Playoff Game and Sets All-Time Records
The Central Wyoming College Rustlers showcased a dominating performance in their last two conference soccer games in the regular season, held in Riverton, WY. The women's team emerged victorious against Northeastern Junior College and Lamar Community College, bolstering their standings with strategic plays and solid defense.
In the first game, the Rustlers faced Northeastern Junior College, taking a formidable lead right from the start. Thanks to impressive coordination and offensive efforts, the Rustlers scored four goals in the first half, with Angilee Woleslagle, Isabella Lakey, Jersee Clapier, and Katelynn Kartchner each finding the net. By halftime, the score stood at 4-0, a lead which the team maintained till the end of the game. Woleslagle was particularly noted for scoring the game-winning goal.
The following matchup against Lamar Community College proved to be more challenging, yet the Rustlers maintained their competitive edge. The first half saw a fierce battle, ending with a score of 2-1 in favor of Central Wyoming College. Katelynn Kartchner scored the crucial game-winning goal. Throughout the game, assists were made by Kartchner, Clapier, Lakey, and Jillian Nelson, ensuring the Rustlers capitalized on their scoring opportunities.
The Rustlers wrapped up the regular season with an all-time CWC women's soccer record 8 wins, and finished 7-3 in NJCAA Region 9 conference play, also a new CWC school record.
With the 4th seed locked in, the Rustlers will be hosting Northwest College in Riverton for the first round of NJCAA Region 9 women's soccer playoffs on Saturday, October 18 at 3:30 PM.
