Central Wyoming College Men’s Rodeo Powers to 2nd Place Finish at Casper College
The Central Wyoming College Rustlers rodeo team delivered one of their most dominant performances of the season at the Casper College Rodeo, held April 17–19. Bolstered by two individual championships in the roughstock events, the CWC Men's Team captured 2nd place overall, moving several athletes closer to securing their spots for the College National Finals Rodeo.
Champions in the Roughstock
The Rustlers proved to be the team to beat in the bucking chutes, claiming the top spot in two major categories:
-
Chaz Dewey continued his sensational spring run by winning 1st place in the Bareback Riding.
-
Colton Clymer matched that success in the Bull Riding, delivering a clutch performance to take home 1st place.
-
Eian Smith added to the bareback scoring barrage, finishing with a strong 4th place showing to keep the Rustler momentum rolling.
Versatility in the Timed Events
The Rustlers' success wasn't limited to the roughstock end of the arena, as CWC athletes found the leaderboard in nearly every discipline:
-
Cael Espenscheid demonstrated his precision in the Team Roping, securing a solid 4th place finish against a highly competitive field.
-
Cole Kreikemeier battled through a fast set of steers to earn 6th place in Steer Wrestling.
-
Roanie Kasel represented the women's team with a sharp performance in the Breakaway Roping, stopping the clock to earn a 9th place finish overall.
A Season-Defining Performance
The 2nd place team finish for the men marks a significant milestone in the spring season. With the points gathered in Casper, the Rustlers have solidified their standing in the regional rankings, with multiple athletes now sitting in the "driver's seat" for national qualification.
"It was a great team effort," said Coach Schrock. "They are all focused and executing the skills that they have been working on in practice. It is very rewarding as a coach to watch the hard work pay off for them. Congratulations to the Men's team on their second place finish this past weekend. Colton and Chaz both won first place and Eian for already punching his ticket to the CNFR. We travel to Laramie this upcoming weekend to finish off the regular season and have two more cowboys in the hunt to qualify for the CNFR."
