CWC Rustler Men's Soccer Secures Mixed Results in Recent Matches
The Central Wyoming College Rustlers Men's Soccer team faced Trinidad State College and Otero College in two crucial regular season conference games. The matches, which took place in Trinidad and La Junta, Colorado, on September 12 & 13 (respectively), and showcased a mix of strategic plays and resilience from the Rustlers under sunny skies.
In the first game against Trinidad State, the Rustlers displayed a solid defensive performance, maintaining a 0-0 score at halftime. The breakthrough came from Issam Taiar, who put the Rustlers ahead, and Evan Cubby, who not only provided an assist but also scored the decisive game-winning goal, securing a 2-1 victory over Trinidad State. Defensively, goalie Justin Varus kept the Rustlers in the game with crucial saves.
The following match against Otero College presented a tougher challenge. After trailing early in the game, the Rustlers managed to equalize and even took the lead temporarily thanks to goals from Drake Terra and Frederik Lindhoej, assisted by Charles Jones and Louis Loizou. However, Otero College's Koji Obana scored the game-winning goal, resulting in a 4-2 loss for Central Wyoming College. Despite the defeat, the Rustlers' performance was noteworthy for its offensive efforts and teamwork.
Looking ahead, the Rustlers are set to face Casper College on the Rustler's home turf on September 19. As they prepare, the team aims to address areas of improvement and capitalize on their strengths to improve their current record of 2 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw.
